FAQ

what smart clients are asking

What exactly does your K9 detect?

Our K9 is trained to detect the odor of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and fentanyl. The dog alerts to the presence of odor, not visible substances, which may indicate recent or residual drug activity.

How accurate is your K9?

Our K9 has completed professional training and certification programs both internationally and locally. While no detection method is 100% guaranteed, our dog is trained to high standards and regularly practices to maintain performance and reliability.

Can you guarantee that all drugs will be found?

No. Our K9 detects current odor, not the presence of physical drugs. If no odor is present at the time of the search—due to time, airflow, cleaning, or masking agents—there may be no alert even if drugs were once there.

Will you seize anything?

No. Our role is strictly detection. We do not touch, test, or handle any substances. The results are for your information only.

What if the dog doesn’t alert—can I be confident there are no drugs?
Our dog detects odor, not physical residue. If there’s no odor present at the time of the search, the dog will not alert. While it’s not a guarantee that no drugs were ever there, it does give you useful, real-time information to assess the current condition of the property.

How is the search conducted?

Before the search begins, we’ll sign a service agreement outlining the scope. The client determines which areas will be searched. Our K9 and handler will complete a walk-through, and you'll receive a verbal summary immediately, followed by a written report within 24 hours.

Can the dog tell you what drug is present?
No. Our K9 will alert to the odor of narcotics but does not distinguish between specific substances. The alert indicates the presence of a narcotic odor, not the quantity or exact type.

Will this tell me if drugs were present in the past?
Possibly. If narcotic odors are still present, the dog may alert to residual scent even if the drugs are no longer there. However, odor does dissipate over time, and we cannot guarantee detection of all past drug activity.

How long does a search take?

Most searches take between 15–30 minutes depending on the size and layout of the property.

Will you alert tenants or employees?

No. All searches are discreet and scheduled to fit your needs. You can choose to have the area cleared ahead of time or have us conduct the sweep during business hours—whatever fits your privacy concerns.

What if I want to search employee lockers or cars—can I do that?
You can, but it depends on your company policy. It’s your responsibility to ensure you have the legal authority to request a search in those areas. We’re happy to help you navigate that with clarity and discretion.

Is your company insured?

Yes. We are fully insured and provide services with professionalism and discretion.

Where do you operate?

We serve the Greater Lafayette, Indiana area and surrounding counties. Travel outside this area is available for an added fee.

What types of clients do you work with?

We work with rental companies, property managers, real estate inspectors, school administrators, business owners, trucking companies, factories, and concerned homeowners.

How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the space and number of areas being searched. Most standard residential or office searches fall within a flat-rate range. We’re happy to provide an exact quote based on your needs.

Can the dog detect weed? What about vape pens or edibles?
Yes, the K9 is trained to detect marijuana odor—including raw product, some edibles, and vapes—if the odor is present. That said, heavily sealed containers or odor-masking products may reduce detectability. The K9 alerts to scent, not appearance.
